UI / UX Design

Torus Biomedical Solutions

This product is a C-arm imaging application designed to assist surgeons with femur-related trauma by providing a visual guide that compares reference and corrected x-ray images, enabling precise image capture while reducing radiation exposure and surgical time.

Role: UX/UI design contributor on a surgical imaging team: owned the reference-vs-corrected X-ray comparison UI, sensor-feedback states, and interactive prototypes.

  • Designed a C-arm guidance interface aimed at reducing radiation exposure and surgical time during femur trauma procedures.
  • Delivered a 6-step process flow (sketch, wireframe, assets, mockup, prototype, feedback) for surgeon review.

Brainstorming

Brainstorming

These sketches represent the initial brainstorming sessions where we explored different ways to present the reference and corrected images side by side. The goal was to make the comparison as intuitive and clear as possible for surgeons during the high-pressure environment of a surgical procedure.

Mapping

Mapping

A flowchart represented various possible user interactions, from launching into the setup screen to capturing and comparing results. The workflow was designed to minimize the steps required to achieve the desired outcomes, enhancing efficiency and usability for surgeons.

Conceptualizing

Conceptualizing

During conceptualization, low-fidelity mockups outlined key features such as the ConfirMap system, rotational and tilt movement sensors, and real-time guidance for optimal C-arm shots, helping us visualize how these features could be integrated into the workflow.

The Process

01 — Sketching

Brainstorming and conceptualizing core features and layout. SketchBook.

02 — Wireframing

Detailed wireframes to map out the interface and workflow. Figma.

03 — Designing Assets

Realistic, interactive assets to enhance visual appeal. Unreal Engine 5, Maya.

04 — Mockups

Translating rough sketches into digital wireframes. Figma.

05 — Prototyping

Interactive prototypes to test and refine the experience. Figma.

06 — Feedback

Incorporating feedback from peers to continually improve the design.
